Alannah's Martial Arts Training and
Background
Here is some background on my training. Each of my
teachers have been remarkable in their own way. This simple
list cannot convey the time, energy, love, and special words
that came from each of them as they taught. I am honored to
have known them.
I began my formal martial arts training in 1990. I
studied Shaolin Goju and Hungar Kung Fu with M. Gallop
Franklin. At this time, my training focused on learning
animal style forms and kumite. I attained the rank of Black
Belt.
In 1992, I continued my Goju and animal style Kung Fu
training with M. Randall Snow. I also began to learn the
basics of internal martial arts and Bagua.
In 1993, I began an intensive study with M. Ted Parker. I
learned Taoist meditation, energy circulation, and advanced
martial philosophy and techniques. At this time I began a
formal, daily meditation practice. I continue to work with
M. Parker.
In 1993, I attended my first seminar with Mike Sigman. I
have since attended all three of his "Developing the Basics
of Internal Strength" seminars and have repeated two.
My first seminar with M. Zhang Xue Xin was in 1994. He
has been offering seminars on Chen style Taiji in
Tallahassee since 1993. I continue to study with him.
In 1995, Grand Master Charles Dixon, SIMA, promoted me to
the rank of Sifu.
In 1995, I began studying Taiji with Michael Kirsch. I
began with an amalgamated form which combines Taiji and Bagua. I soon
began the Chen form and continue to refine my practice with him.
In 1996, I began teaching Taiji to a small group of
students. My focus is on the basics of Taiji movement
including Wuji, Silk Reeling, and Chen style Taiji
form.
In 2000, I received my third Reiki attunement and am
considered a Reiki Master. I have offered several Reiki
seminars, attunements, and healing sessions.
In 2001, I received a Master Degree and Educational
Specialist Degree in Mental Health Counseling. I currently
work with foster care children.
In 2006, Grand Master Charles Dixon, SIMA, promoted me to the rank
of Master.
My belief is that Taiji is a wholistic approach to the
martial arts and healing on all levels.
