Qigong

Hun Yuan Qigong is the style of energy work that accompanies Chen style Taiji. The exercises focus on the use of intent to condense heaven and earth qi into the body. As the techniques of the form are properly applied, qi builds within the system and transforms into permanent, radiant spiritual energy.

The connection between the physical body and the earth is continuously stressed through concepts such as fa sung, proper skeletal alignment and peng jing, a strong path ground path. Both of these ideas require a release of tension and unneeded muscular holding. One way to describe the process is to say that one is letting go of what is no longer needed physically, mentally, and emotionally. The connection between the body and heaven is more subtle and energy is guided upward through yi, intent.

Yi leads qi and qi leads li. The intent or mind leads the energy which then leads the structure of the physical world. The mind is the seed from which all of the world comes from. The qigong aspect of Taiji trains the mind to become more focused and sharp so that the intent can be known, understood, and directed. In Taiji, the direction that is used is the path of least resistance. The simple and natural path. The path of connection. This connection between the human and the surrounding environment is reinforced in the very simple act of practicing outside.

Many styles of energy work are explored and Reiki Training is offered to all students who have a desire to deepen their ability to work with energy. People who have dedicated their lives to developing any form of healing art will be provided the master’s level attunement. Classes detailing a simplified system for developing the ability to feel, manipulate, direct, and use energy are formed at the student’s request.
